
Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, is celebrating the remarkable social and environmental contributions of its suppliers in the UK and Ireland. The company recently hosted its inaugural Supplier Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards, recognizing the positive impact these partners are making in supporting sustainable practices, addressing social inequality, promoting health and wellbeing, and combating climate change.
The Supplier CSR Awards are a testament to Alstom’s ongoing commitment to social value, and the winners were selected based on their contributions to the UK Government’s Social Value Model. Nine prestigious awards were presented to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large companies, who not only provide quality products and services to Alstom but also champion initiatives that align with Alstom’s vision of a responsible and sustainable future.
Alstom, a worldwide leader in intelligent and sustainable mobility, is honoring the outstanding social and environmental efforts of its suppliers in the UK and Ireland. The company recently held its first-ever Supplier Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards, acknowledging the significant contributions made by these partners in advancing sustainable practices, tackling social inequality, enhancing health and wellbeing, and addressing climate change.
Alstom’s suppliers have shown impactful efforts across a variety of priorities, from apprenticeship programs designed to create local job opportunities, to the development of employee resource groups (ERGs) aimed at fostering inclusion in the workplace. Notable contributions also include mental health initiatives and innovative solutions focused on mitigating climate change.
The 2025 Supplier CSR Awards event included addresses from Elaine Clark OBE, Chief Executive Officer of Rail Forum, and Noel Travers, Chairman of the Railway Industry Association. Both speakers highlighted the critical role of integrating social value throughout the entire supply chain.
“Engaging with our suppliers is critical to achieving shared success. The quality of submissions we received this year reflects a growing maturity and commitment to corporate social responsibility across our supply base,” said Olivier Quindos, Procurement Director UK and Ireland at Alstom.
The Winners of the Supplier CSR Awards 2025:
Tackle Economic Inequality (SME)
Winner: MPI Recruitment
Alstom recognized MPI Recruitment for its remarkable apprentice scheme, which focuses on addressing regional skills shortages in areas like Glasgow, Manchester, and Cornwall. By providing local apprenticeships, MPI not only helps reduce commuting costs for workers but also strengthens local economies. Since 2012, over 70 trainees have obtained their Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) licenses, contributing to a sustainable workforce in the rail industry.
Tackle Economic Inequality (Large)
Winner: Telent
Telent, a leading digital infrastructure provider, was recognized for its growing apprentice intake. The company has expanded its apprenticeship program to encompass all levels, making significant strides in creating equitable job opportunities within the digital infrastructure sector.
Improve Health & Wellbeing (SME)
Winner: Olympus Global
Olympus Global impressed the judges with its comprehensive approach to employee health and wellbeing. The company has put in place a supportive work environment with initiatives that prioritize both the physical and mental health of its staff, ensuring a balanced and productive workforce.
Improve Health & Wellbeing (Large)
Winner: OCS
OCS, a prominent facilities services group, received high praise for its robust health and wellbeing policies, including the CHROMA (Creating Harmony, Respecting Others, Making Allies) Network. This network organizes events and offers resources focused on mental and physical wellbeing, such as ‘View from Your Brew’ and ‘Wellbeing Month’ initiatives.

Drive Equal Opportunity (SME)
Winner: Shorterm
Shorterm, a recruitment agency, stood out for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The company has set clear KPIs to measure DEI progress and has established an emerging ERG to foster inclusion throughout the organization.
Drive Equal Opportunity (Large)
Winner: Rullion
Rullion’s submission demonstrated how DEI is deeply embedded in the organization’s culture. The recruitment company’s commitment to diversity, health, and wellbeing practices was evident, and it earned top marks for promoting inclusion and supporting employee health and welfare.
Fight Climate Change (SME)
Winner: Petards Rail Technology
Petards Rail Technology was acknowledged for its robust commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The company’s science-driven objectives and eco-friendly practices have been validated through external evaluations by EcoVadis, a globally respected platform that assesses businesses based on their sustainability performance.
Fight Climate Change (Large)
Winner: HUBER+SUHNER
HUBER+SUHNER, a leading fiber optic manufacturer, was acknowledged for its contributions to sustainability, particularly through its role in supporting Alstom’s climate goals. The company demonstrated a deep understanding of how its products contribute to both its and Alstom’s climate objectives.
Supply Chain Sustainability School (SME)
Winner: Kadel Engineering
Kadel Engineering was the first company to complete all four learning pathways with SCSS, having engaged with Alstom’s baseline survey in November 2024. This award recognized their dedication to furthering sustainability within the wider supply chain community.
A Commitment to Community: Alstom’s 2024 Community Project Fund
In addition to the Supplier CSR Awards, Alstom announced the recipients of its 2024 UK and Ireland Community Project Fund (CPF). Twelve charities and community-driven initiatives will be awarded more than £125,000 (€145,000) to support their meaningful work. Furthermore, Alstom encourages its employees to volunteer their time, providing additional support to these projects.

However, it doesn’t have to be as daunting if we change our mindsets and approaches to recruitment. There are so many underrepresented communities that we could be tapping into – whether that’s women, people from different industries or other diverse groups. By opening up our ways of working, we can attract a wider pool of talent.”
The inaugural Supplier CSR Awards and the launch of the CPF reflect Alstom’s commitment to fostering a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable supply chain.
